So I finally got to get my laptop to work. Now to record something…how about another song? That’s right, finally youtube.com/user/jeffersonbenson has churned out another song staring him and his guitar. Hope you guys enjoy.

Now because the quality with the new setup might be aweful, I’ve got a solid audio recording I made just in case. Check it out:

And because the audio is horrible, a recording of just the song was made here.

And for those of you who love those lyrics, check them out here: Jake Williams song

It’s hard to be a teenager. Anyone under the age of 20 reading this blog would agree with that statement. There is so much expected of us, and yet so little.

I’ve seen a lot in my life, some of which I wish I’d never seen. I see people who are so lazy and yet they slip by the system and make their way through life until they meet a wall. Then they hit the wall like a fly hits a windshield at 70 miles per hour (pardon the gross analogy).

I’ve also seen the ones that powers that be would describe as possessing “potential”, or being “bright”. There’s nothing wrong with that. The problem is when the system gets the chosen few under their thumb and use the gifts and talents that they posses in order to obtain more money from states that freely give it to those who qualify. I would like to equivalent this to an offering that ancient Mayans made to the gods in order to have a good harvest. This would often involve a human sacrifice in a bloody ritual, with one less farmer in the city after the ritual was completed.

It’s hard to be a teenager. We just try to wander through life and hope not to end up like that fly I mentioned earlier. Right here I would offer some advice on how to beat the system and rise up to be our own people, however that is to be saved for another blog post. I am here just the same as you. I would like to make my way through just fine, but there seems to be no happy medium. I hope that over these next couple of posts, a series if you will, we can explore what it is that keeps us down, why it’s wrong, and how we can rise through the ranks to expose improper expectations and rebel against what they currently stand for.

God has a plan for your life, like he has for mine, and I hope that we can understand that there’s a reason why you are reading this post at this moment in time.

Here’s a really cool video I saw a while ago and I think It’s appropriate for this topic, it’s more of a song than a video (includes Spanish subtitles):

Please feel free to comment below with questions or just what you think about this new series of posts.

So I found this video on the internet (look below), and I decided to make me a messenger bag out of recycled bags.

Trash Messenger Bag

It’s pretty cool. I just folded up the bags once they were cut up into flat sheets, and sewed the sheets that I got from there. After adding some straps, which took way longer than expected, I got what you see above. Kinda cool eh? I even learned how to sew. I’ll be going on a missions trip leaving sunday and I needed a bag to carry some extra stuff in. The cool part about this is that the whole thing is recycled, except for maybe the velcro used to hold it shut. Check out the video below and try making your own bag.

So while watching Church Media Design (churchmediadesign.tv), host Brad Zimmerman talked about this church who in a promo video decided to rather than use gratuitous amounts of after effects work, they decided to mount a powerful projector onto a generator and projected onto the ground as they drove a truck and filmed the whole thing. The whole combination of things provided a stunning video that required no post-editing and no excessive computer generation. More on Ken’s blog (http://www.avclub.us/2009/05/19/now-what-series-open/). Enjoy!

So here I write officially a junior in High School. Woohoo! I know I can’t express my joy in words written in a blog, believe me I am quite ecstatic.

So for the last day of school, we walk our schedules and visit our new teachers. Allow me to review my teachers in order of the day.

French 5 – Madame Mahalidge – Madame wasn’t in school today and therefore can’t be reviewed. However, there’s only like 7 people in my homeroom. Nice small, and not that loud. Thumbs up!

AP Composition – Miss Zarzecki – I haven’t heard the best from her former students, I hope she’s gotten better. Two books to read, and some summer work that will take some time, but is not that bad.

Web Design/Gym – Miss Yanko – Glad I have friends who’ve had her before. She reccomends a prior computer course. Forget that! I’ll take my chances! (note sarcasm)

Honors Pre-Calclus – Mr. Dennis – Laid back and really knows his stuff. I’ll probably pass normally without becoming a favorite student or anything.

AP Euro – Mr. Burns – This class I’m most excited for. I’ve heard some really good things about this teacher and I look foward to his class. Those of you who know anything about his room understand.

Honors Physics – Mr. Rhule – This guy looks intresting. Shaved (I think) head and really abstract in his ways. He looks harmless I guess, but I’ve said that about several teachers before.

Music Performance – Orch./Chorus – Music + Jeff = Happy. Need I say less.

All in all, I’m really excited for this upcoming year. For now however, I just want to enjoy my summer.
